RULES

How do the rules of ball hockey differ from those of ice hockey?
The rules of ball hockey are very similar to ice hockey, with the exception of the following: Floating blue line offside, no two line pass, all stick infractions are double minor or major penalties, high sticking the ball is a minor penalty.

What is the floating blue line off-side rule?
In ice hockey to enter the defensive zone, the puck must cross the blue line before all attacking players, when you cross blue line - the offensive zone is blue line inward. In ball hockey you enter the zone the same way, except when you cross the blue line, the attacking zone is from red line inward, which lengthen the offensive zone and promotes more offense and scoring opportunities.

REGISTRATION AND FEES

Can I register as a single player or do I need to put in a team?
You can register as a single player. You will be put into the PBHL player draft and will be picked up or placed on a team that does not have sixteen players.

Is there a team fee?
Yes, you can enter as a full team (cost is based on 16 player roster).  See team section on registration form

What is minimum number of players allowed on full team?
Every PBHL Team will have at least 16 players, this will be accomplished by full teams entering with sixteen plus players or teams with less will select the appropriate number of players from draft to make desired minimum.

What if I have group of friends that want to play together, but cannot make a team of 16?
Your group will be placed on a team or joined with another group to make a full team of sixteen, all players in your group will be put together.

What if we have a large group of 12-14 players, but, do not have the required number of players to meet the minimum of sixteen players to make a full team?

option 1: you will have to draft the remaining number of players from small groups or individual players that are in the player draft to make the minimum of 16 players on your team. ie: if you have 12 players in your group, you must draft at least 4 to make sixteen.

option 2: If your team decides that it does not want to draft, the only other option is your team must cover the remaining spots left. if there are two spots remaining they must cover the entry fee of those two spots, which they can fill later with additional players. Team reps will be responsible for attaining fees from new players covering these spots, but players still must fill out registration forms online prior to playing.

What are the different divisions for adult and youth leagues?
There are four divisions:
1. Very Competitive: Advanced Players possessing great ice or ball hockey skills
2. Competitive: Players with good ice or ball hockey skills
3. Recreational: Players with average ball or ice hockey skills
4. Beginner: Players with limited skills or have never played before
